Proposed Extension - Styveton Way by Daniel Hodgkinson
This was a short term summer job to gain more experience in practice working one-to-one with an established RIBA & ARB Charted architect in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.
Here I gained a stronger knowledge of architecture. Using my AutoCAD skills I created precise detailing for structural systems inline with the UK building regulations criteria. My daily tasks was mostly creating immaculate existing and proposed drawings from small extensions to new builds ready for submission to local councils. The lead architect, Daniel Bland, taught me more knowledge about in-depth detailing for various projects which has given me a greater understanding about different construction techniques and modern materials to use in different building schemes.
I visited a handful of projects where I met the clients, project managers and contractors and thoroughly understood the aims of each individual project from everyone's point of view and found this valuable for my growing career in architecture along with the business side of being an established RIBA architect.

With my supervision, he was given a project to develop from survey to submission for planning approval; Styveton Way, a project consisting of two single storey extensions to a semidetached property.
